The Center for Gender Equity (The Center) is a new initiative responding to a lack of unified educational opportunities regarding women, LGBTQ issues, and gender equity social problems in Grant County and the campus of Western New Mexico University. It serves as the place where students and the surrounding community can participate in transformative programming and advocacy on issues of gender equity and feminism.
The Center is directed by two faculty from the Department of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies:
Dr. Emma Bailey, Professor of Sociology (Director)
Dr. Lydia Huerta, Assistant Professor of Spanish and Cultural Studies (Assistant Director).
